It was an amazing race just getting to Hamilton this weekend with runners from all over the world looking to snag last-minute marathon entry spots.
Super storm Sandy’s destruction sent hardcore athletes scrambling from New York City after organizers announced the cancellation of that mammoth race Friday afternoon. It had been scheduled to start on Staten Island, one of the hardest hit areas of Sandy.
Without it, Hamilton’s annual Road2Hope — also slotted for Sunday — became the sole remaining qualifier for next year’s Boston Marathon.
