Everything from Caribbean food and flavours to music and island culture is showcased at CariVaughan, which brings to the city of Vaughan a Caribbean festival like no other. Top artists perform the latest in Soca, Calypso, Chutney, and Caribbean music, surrounded by the backdrop of the city of Vaughan, one of the fastest growing cities in Ontario that is known for its picturesque conservation areas, parks and vibrant community.
Founded in 2010, CariVaughan is a free event, with donations and profits going towards Sickle cell awareness, research, programs and services.
“Carivaughan is a charity which supports the research for sickle cell and donations will be made to the sickle cell comprehensive centre, which is located in the new hospital in Vaughan,” explains Bluez Kumar, entertainment advisor.
The two day long festival features live entertainment, activities for children, vendors, marketplace, Beer garden and calypso, soca and reggae music to keep the crowd moving CariVaughan.
“It’s part of our culture,” says Kathy Legall, parade goer who dresses up in costume to celebrate.
