You’ve heard about Hansel and Gretel? Well, this is a story is about Hansell and culvert.
You see, Alan Hansell, of Stewards of the Cootes Watershed, doesn’t like to see debris and trash spoiling his favourite greenspace, Cootes Paradise.
So when low water revealed a 20-foot broken-off culvert near Old Guelph Road and Highway 403, he decided to do something about it.
On Saturday, he and two buddies attached cables to each end of the culvert and then, using a come-along cable puller, dragged it to shore.
