Now that the holiday season is upon us, it’s time to start thinking about our holiday party wardrobes. Whether it’s a formal affair, office party or casual gathering, finding the perfect outfit is a challenge for many people. Fortunately, the fashion experts at Fairview Park Mall are always ready to dish on how to dress for the holidays.

At Le Chateau, assistant store manager Jamie James says the store has plenty of formal wear. “We’ve got a lot of dresses,” she says, “dressy dresses with a lot of sequence, a lot of lace, a lot of flowers.” If a dress isn’t for you, James says the store also carries a lot of suits with both pants and skirts to coordinate with blazers.

Men shopping at Le Chateau will find all kinds of matching shirts, ties and pocket squares, as well as suits that coordinate with the ladies wear. “Some hot holiday colours here at Le Chateau are the teals,” says James, as well as traditional red and burgundy, a colour that “is a compliment to any skin tone.”

Mary Wyga, a Fairview Park Mall shopper says she visited RW&CO. “because I’m looking for an outfit for a holiday office party.” Seeing a lot of dresses paired with cardigans, Wyga felt this would be an appropriate look for her office party. “The dress that I decided to wear I picked because it had a lot of fun colours in it.”

The strapless, knee-length number coordinates nicely with her date’s burgundy shirt, grey suit and festive, yet professional, silver plaid tie.

Shoppers searching for the perfect outfit to wear to a casual holiday gathering need look no further than American Eagle Outfitters. At the store, manger Jen Flaherty says guys and girls can get whatever they need for this type of party. “Jeans, tees, hoodies and tanks,” are all popular choices for a casual get together, Flaherty says.

“For the girls I’d definitely stay really pretty and feminine,” she says. Start with a pair of jeans, whether skinny or flared, “whatever style you’re more comfortable in,” and add tees and tanks, “anything lace or ruffley.” Plaids are really popular right now too, “so you can definitely partner that up and still be very casual at a party.”

Guys can start with dark denim and add a woven long-sleeved tee plus a warm plaid shirt on top. This look is one that Flaherty says is “probably the best casual look that you can put together.”
