Set a festive Thanksgiving table with crafty place cards made with an assortment of Elmer’s products and items from your craft cupboard.
“This is a quick and easy craft kids can make during the busy season,” says Elmer’s Canada product manager Alicia Buter. You’ll need pom poms, feathers, jiggly eyes, paint, glue and a couple of clothespins to complete the turkey-inspired crafts.
Get your turkey place card holder started by first painting the beak – the clothespin – and once dry, glue it to the pom pom body using Tacky Glue. Just make sure to “hold it in place until the glue takes tack.”
Next, glue the jiggly eyes on either on the front of the clothespin, or on the sides “so that the eyes are looking out.”
Choose feathers of your choice to add to the back of the turkey, gluing them to the pom pom, once again using the Tacky Glue. Buter suggests placing the glue on the stem of the feather rather than the feather itself to ensure it adheres to the pom pom. “Again you’re going to need to hold these in place until the glue takes tack.”
The last step is to add clothespins or foam for the feet. Buter prefers using the clothes pins because they provide a sturdier base for the turkey to stand on.
“The final step is to add the name card,” Buter says. “You can do this a couple of different ways, just using a marker and some paper and write out your guests name and then put it into the beak clothespin to hold it into place. Or, if you wanted to add a border, you can cut out a piece of foam, glue the paper on top, and then pinch it into the beak as well.”
