SPLASH The Floating Water Festival is the first step in moving forward the idea of a Water Centre for Innovation, Research and Learning that will make Lake Simcoe synonymous with creativity and water leadership. “It’s all about loving water,” explains Annabel Slaight, president Ladies of the Lake.
The hub of the festival is located in Georgina, but the festival will move around to different venues to include beaches, lakes, forests and parks. As the Floating Water Festival grows, it will continue to evolved, but according to Slaight, it will always have an amazing events, activities, and performance celebrating water.
The festival showcases beach theater, aerial acrobatics preformed by former Cirque de Soleil performers, and a Hydraulophone, a tonal acoustic musical instrument played by direct physical contact with water that is played in Lake Simcoe, which Slaight says makes it the largest musical instrument.
“There are things to see and learn, as well as local food,” says Slaight. The Forest Experience celebrates the connection between the woods and water. Amongst the trees, you’ll find musicians playing harps and flutes, as well as architectural displays.
Suitable for visitors of all ages, Splash is a wonderful event for the whole family to connect with the world and other people.
