Whether it’s girl’s night, guy’s night or date night, it’s always fun to try a new restaurant. Located on exciting James Street north, Acclamation is an upscale lounge that offers one of the best patios in the city.
“We’re really excited to be on James Street north,” says proprietor Patricia Roque. The street was fairly bare when Acclamation first opened, but with the addition of the many art galleries to the neighbourhood, the street is really booming.
The front-end of Acclamation is reserved for fine dining with a focus on steak and seafood, but casual dining is offered in the back, serving up Hamilton’s best burger as well as wings, pizza and other bar foods.
“My family is Portuguese,” Roque admits, but says the restaurant does not do traditional Portuguese food. “But we do love to use Portuguese spices in pretty much all of our food.” And the new tapas menu is something the restaurateur is extremely excited about, encouraging customers to “come after work, have some wine and some tapas.”
And the private lounge downstairs can be booked for private functions. “Every Wednesday we do have poker, but we book it out for any type of events, baptisms, communions, work parties, retirements,” with enough space to set up 45 people for dinner or up to 70 people for a cocktail party.
