Museum Summer Camps, An exciting alternative

You may be surprised to learn that in addition to the over one hundred programs for all ages that are available at the City of Toronto’s Historic Museums, many of them also offer Summer Day Camps for kids.

The Historic Site camps are places where children can have a wonderful time using their imaginations and creativity.

From drama to sculpture, from painting to archaeology, from weaving to nature walks (to list just a few things) Toronto’s Historic Site camps provide enriching experiences and encourage children to have fun and make new friends.

At some camps kids cook in historic kitchens with 19th-century utensils and recipes from that period. Hands on teamwork with items such as mortar and pestle or graters can turn simple ingredients into the delicious treats they can later enjoy.

Camps are available at these locations:

North: Gibson House Museum (Yonge Street, north of the North York Centre Subway)

East: Scarborough Historical Museum (Brimley Road and Lawrence Avenue)

West: Colborne Lodge in High Park(just north of The Queensway on Colborne Lodge Drive)

Central: Spadina Museum, Historic House & Gardens(next door to Casa Loma, Spadina Road south of St. Clair Avenue)

Todmorden Mills Heritage Museum(Pottery Road west of Broadview Avenue)
