Kathy Wood’s home could be her calling card. Even before becoming a certified Home Stager, she redesigned it many times. Her flair for interior design was called upon by family and friends for years prior to the start of her home staging and redesigning career.

It’s a passion of hers that she has married with a passion for real estate. With two young daughters, Wood continues to commit to getting a real estate license to work with realtors to help them sell homes. She completed a home stager course and draws on her years of design experience as well as much research, including visits to décor shops, and exposure to home design magazines and other media.

It’s been her experience that no matter how much money one spends on home furnishings and décor, the look doesn’t necessarily come together. That’s where Wood comes in and has often been called upon to guide friends and family through the design process. She admits that you don’t have to spend a lot to achieve great design. As a home stager, the idea is to work with what’s there, rearranging, editing and adding piece here and there.

Half of the garage in her Oakville home provides storage for furniture and accessories that get moved from home to home as needed to complete a look. Wood works from photos that she takes on her initial visit to a client’s home. This gives her time to study the rooms and how she can rework the space to make it more inviting to buyers.

Being a terrific organizer is a skill that Wood calls upon in her home staging career. An eye for detail and good design are also in her redesign toolbox along with a network that includes painters, electricians and contractors.
