Having an organized closet with clothing, shoes and accessories easily
accessible can make your life happier. That’s been Samer Rahwanji’s experience
as the owner of Closet & Storage Concepts.
“It’s a very positive and happy business to be in,” he says.
“Clothing organizing is actually important
because it helps everybody become more efficient and happier. They don’t have
to worry about what they are going to wear and where they are going to put
stuff,” explains Rahwanji.
His company provides techniques and installs products that help organize not
only clothes closets but home offices, garages, mud rooms and entry areas. The
process begins with a free consultation.
”We come, we take measurements, we do the analysis and we discuss what you want
and give you an offer with the design,” he says.
According to Rahwanji, having professional help with closet organization is not
necessarily expensive and there are households that can really benefit from the
services. He’s seen many closet disasters, even where the parents’ closets are
in worse condition than those of their children. Closet storage systems are
tailored to walk-in and reach-in closets as well as dressing rooms.
The starting point is what a client owns and how he or she wants items to be
stored. For example, in a walk-in closet shared by a couple, the woman’s
belongings generally take up the majority of the space. The systems installed
will accommodate dresses in long hang areas. Depending on how a client prefers
to hang pants – with a fold or full length - there will appropriately geared
hanging sections. Drawers can be part of the mix, and could include specialized
drawers to house jewellery. Hampers for laundry, shelves for shoes and pull-out
bins are other options.
Rahwanji describes these closet accessories as “things you need to make your
life easier.”
Reach-in closets can actually accommodate a lot of clothes if well designed,
the closet professional advises. Again, the closet space is divided according
to the user’s needs. A young child’s closet will have a triple hang area and as
the child grows and clothes become larger, it can be modified to be a double
hang. He suggests it’s important to “think long-term”. Pull out baskets are ideal for storing toys
and can be positioned so a young child can have easy access of quick clean-ups.
Dressing rooms are like an extra-large walk-in closet. They can be fitted with
everything that a walk-in has and more including a wine fridge or a storage
island or peninsula. Ironing boards, benches and valet racks are other
considerations.
What makes the service his company offers so effective is that it’s customized
to suit each individual client and every member of the household. It’s their
job to decide “how to best suit what you have and what you would like,” says
Rahwanji.
