The Residences at Lochness Links is Ballantry Homes’ new
community designed for independent, active adults. This master planned
neighborhood offers empty nesters freehold bungalow villas and executive
singles. Located in Welland, which is in
the heart of the Niagara region, this picturesque community may be the perfect
place for you to call home.
Shelia Wellwood and her husband moved to Lochness from
Markham after seeing an advertisement posted for the new community. They decided to take a drive to explore the
area and experience what Ballantry had
to offer. Even though the community wasn’t built yet, the Wellwoods fell in
love.
“We came back a second time and purchased. It was just a
plan on a sheet of paper, but it had everything we were looking for,” Wellwood
recalls.
Liz Paton and her husband also bought their Ballantry home
before it was built.
“We never saw the home and it was extremely scary. As soon
as the model was open, we ran through it and were very pleased that we made the
right decision,” Paton says, adding that when their daughter came to visit for
the first time, she also agreed that the place was perfect for them.
Lochness residents are rarely bored with so many activities
and events to keep them busy. The community has a fully-featured community
centre, a saltwater pool, a hot tub, two saunas, a fully equipped fitness room,
two tennis courts, a library, and two banquet rooms. The community also
organizes weekly and monthly activities including yoga, Tai Chi, table tennis,
craft clubs, walking and biking clubs, aqua fit, coffee mornings and card
nights, just to name a few.
“You wouldn’t believe how busy a week is here,” Paton says.
“I walk every day, I bike two to three days a week. I kayak, which I never did
before I came here.” Paton also enjoys
movie nights, card games, and euchre tournaments with her fellow residents.
Lochness is also a golf course community, which was a huge
attraction for the Wellwoods, who are both avid golfers. Looking out her window, Wellwood can enjoy the
relaxing view of the golf course.
“I can’t tell you how
many people we’ve told that this is the greatest place to live,” Wellwood
admits. “Everything is close, but we don’t have the hustle and bustle of the
big city. It’s very relaxing and you can be as busy and as active as you want
to be.”
