According to Jose Geada, who along with his Italian wife Elena, owns Bernardino’s Gourmet Foods, “everybody in Italy makes it”. There are just three ingredients – fresh vine-ripened tomatoes, garlic and good olive oil. There’s also “a little bit of love” added into the mix to create the perfect base for the rustic Italian fare offered at the gourmet food store and bistro. Customers can take a jar home with them or choose a freshly prepared gourmet dish for take-out or eat-in.
Italian tomato sauce is just one of the many high quality retail sales items available at the Burlington location. Pastas, breads, sauces, soups and pastas are prepared fresh every day. Elena’s father contributes his homemade Papa’s sausage to the selection of simple, fresh and flavourful foods at Bernardino’s.
