From refinishing bathtubs to renovating entire bathrooms and kitchens, there is no stopping Dennis Larocque, owner of a one stop shop, Bathtub King.
Back in 1981, Larocque started his bathtub refinishing business, working out of his basement. Today the Hamilton Bathtub King location features an extensive showroom that showcases both bathroom and kitchen displays. One of those display areas shows how a tub and surrounding tiles can be refinished to look brand new.
The concept is still popular today. Refinishing is an option that provides a quick fix for an outdated or damaged tub.
“Literally in half a day you can have a new bathtub without any major inconvenience,” Larocque explains.
His business expanded as customers began to request other services. Larocque was being asked to recommend a plumber or tile setter for example. He formed a network of tradespersons and went on to hire plumbers, tile setters and electricians as part of his Bathtub King staff. Everything is in place for his business to complete an entire renovation job right down to the paint.
Kitchen renovations are another part of the Bathtub King evolution. Larocque was asked by customers who were pleased with the work completed in their bathroom if he could do the kitchen as well.
“It seemed like a natural progression,” he says, adding that the Bathtub King network now includes a cabinet maker who will build custom cabinets.
Larocque admits that bathroom and kitchen renovators can simply go to a big box store and likely find what they need but if they need guidance and advice, his staff can provide that as well as the fixtures and accessories. Bathtub King staff will visit a customer’s home as part of the design process.
