The smorgasbord of culinary offerings from Burlington restaurants is featured during the semi-annual A Taste of Burlington event.
The special dining experience runs from February 22 to March 14 at 26 local establishments that serve up a variety of prix-fixe lunch and dinner options. The three-course menus are priced at a special value with lunch at $20 and dinner at $30, $35 and $40.
A Taste of Burlington grew from a need to promote all restaurants in the area, according to Catherine Young, chair of A Taste of Burlington committee and executive director of Pepperwood Bistro Catering and Special Events. The dining program was created by the restaurant operators with the inaugural event last winter. It was back on the local events menu last summer and this is its second winter appearance.
“It’s about a community of restaurants and it’s about being part of that, not just being a single restaurant,” suggests Kim Posavad, manager of Canyon Creek who adds that it’s important to encourage people to experience the many dining options in their own town.
Young says the event is a “fabulous representation” of what Burlington has to offer. If exploring new tastes and new locations isn’t temptation enough, the fixed price meals are cost effective as well, advises Justine Smyth of Latitude restaurant.
“It’s just a great prix fixe idea. It brings people in to sample different items on the menu and that way we hope to bring them back for our regular menu another time of the year,” says Adam Mackay of Paradiso.
