Derek Chan was born and raised in Canada to two entrepreneurial spirited parents from Hong Kong. At a young age he had a great curiosity for how things work which led him to pursue and graduate with a Computer Engineering degree from McMaster University. Working at Procter & Gamble he gained valuable knowledge on how to run a business by helping to develop strategic financial analytical systems that would be used as important tools to steer critical business decisions. Armed with the entrepreneurial spirit, curiosity and an analytical mind, he then joined his father to help manage and operate Hyundai Of Oakville in 2007 as it continues to rise year after year in servicing Oakville and surrounding areas.

The success of Hyundai of Oakville is reflected in the winning of the Presidents Award of Merit - awarded to the top 15 Hyundai Canada dealers - 12 times in a 15 year span including a 10 year consecutive run. This is an award given to the dealers who deliver an excellent quality of service to customers, as determined by customers, in all departments (new car sales, parts and service).

The new 20,000 sq. ft dealership features a 10-car showroom, 10 service bays, 2 wash bays and over 180 parking spots. Along with Toronto Hyundai, the Chan family, and partners, have proudly operated the two dealerships for over 10 years.
