Growing up with a father who traveled the world to attract buyers to properties here in Canada, Raymond Zenkovich was initiated into the real estate business at an early age.

His father Victor and a business partner began selling properties to foreign investors back in 1958. With the ability to speak 10 languages he was able to tap into overseas buyers as a real estate broker. Along with other investors, he built a downtown Burlington high rise and entered the property management and development field.

Raymond and his brother Brian joined with their father in 1985 to form Winzen, a company the brothers continue to operate today. Unlike their father, they weren’t sales people. When their father asked if they wanted to be in the building business, Raymond made the move. The three of them hired staff with experience in the business and learned from them. They started with more high rises, then townhouses and commercial plazas in the Burlington area. Today Winzen has more than 1,000 homes to its credit, specializing in unique and luxurious detached homes, townhomes, condominiums and quality custom-built homes.

While Brian looks after administration and finances, Raymond focuses on marketing, construction of houses and jumping the various planning and zoning hurtles necessary to get site development approval. Currently Winzen has housing developments in various stages of completion in Campbellville, Cambridge and Burlington. Established Winzen developments can be found in Brantford and Alliston.

The boys grew up in Stoney Creek at a time when a neighbour was allowed to keep a horse in the town. Raymond now lives in Toronto, is the father of two teenage sons and finds time for biking, skiing, golfing and traveling. He’s a director with the Hamilton Home Builders Association, is chair of the group’s development council and is involved in its charitable endeavors. Although at times he hates to admit it, he’s an avid Buffalo Bills fan.
