Busy people who work long hours, retirees who want to pack up and leave for a couple of months without worry, people who like to entertain and appreciate a unique residence with character. Individuals like these are part of the demographic suited for loft life.

This demographic and then some, is represented in potential buyers visiting Stinson Lofts. According to developer Harry Stinson, the spacious lofts that he’s carving out of the historic Stinson School are attracting people of all ages and economic ranges, from professionals to empty nesters.

In addition to the vintage features like 14-foot ceilings, rich Maple hardwood floors, expansive windows, and solid wood wainscoting, these lofts come with a concierge. This extra service provides a sense of security, a welcoming atmosphere for guests, convenience to residents who use courier services and freedom to go on an extended vacation.

As a condominium, Stinson Lofts provide a maintenance-free residence. Stinson, who has a history of developing unique projects in Toronto, suggests it’s a practical and economical choice for those who don’t want to look after maintenance themselves. The condo fees are well worth it in terms of convenience and economy, covering such expenses as building insurance as well as landscape and building upkeep that can really add up for homeowners. What sets Stinson Lofts apart is the character of a building that could only be delivered by an 1895 vintage school.

“The Stinson School is one of those buildings that they look at, even from the sidewalk, and say wow, is that ever a cool building,” he says, adding that the interior solicits the same enthusiastic response. “There’s an excitement about this building.”

The developer reports that people are “ecstatic that they can buy something with character in a loft in Hamilton”. It has the uniqueness of a century home but it doesn’t come with the big price tag. Loft residents can buy in for between $200,000 to $700,000 and get the impact of living in a distinctive destination building. As Stinson puts it, “there’s a sense of timelessness to the building.”

It’s a place where the developer expects residents will stay for a long time. With units measuring from 1,000 to 3,500 square feet, many of the units will feel like “large homes within a very grand building”. It’s the scale and original architecture that positions Stinson Lofts to raise the bar on real estate offerings in Hamilton.

Stinson refers to the loft project as an “up” in the City’s recent emotional and psychological ups and downs, something of which Hamiltonians can be proud. He recommends a visit to the Stinson School at 200 Stinson St. to experience the full impact. It’s open seven days a week. For a preview, check out the website at www.stinsonschool.com.
