If you own a home, you are eventually going to be selling that home. Real estate professionals will help you to sell your home and to move on to another. Paul Hammond, Sales Representative at Remax Escarpment Realty advises sellers to have a real estate professional visit their home before beginning any upgrades or renovations intended to increase the value of the home.
” We can help you distribute the money in a more efficient way,” he explains.
In his experience, home owners can invest large amounts of money in home improvements that don’t result in payback when it’s time to sell. Hammond is also a home stager who can provide tips on presenting a house to appeal to buyers.
The reasons that cause someone to sell a home will often also dictate what they are looking for in a new home. A family that has outgrown their home will be looking for something larger, possibly four bedrooms instead of three, a larger kitchen, second bathroom and a double car garage. Some buyers have a swimming pool and large yard on their wish list.
If Hammond is finding a client a new home as well as selling their existing dwelling, he will need to know what’s on the wish list. Through his profession’s internal Multiple Listings Service (MLS), he’s able to refine a search by providing information about a client’s preferences. Just as the seller’s home will be on a list of seven to 10 that he’ll show buyers looking for what it has to offer, he will provide the seller with up to 10 options.
Once a home is being bought and sold, he suggests that the offer process begin as soon as possible. It takes a couple of hours to put an offer together, he says.
When selling a home, an open house will give potential buyers a chance to see inside the home and “it’s a great opportunity to check out the neighbourhood”. It’s an ideal time to be purchasing a home, with low interest rates and a lot of inventory. Hammond observes that many first-time buyers are getting into the marketplace.
