The Nissan Altima Hybrid brings performance and the planet together. It features a 158-hp 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine with a 40-hp electric motor. “It’s driven by an internal-combustion engine along with an electric motor with a battery pack in the car,” explains Edward Wong, general manager of Alta Nissan Maple. “Any time that you slow down and/or break, the force is actually recharging the battery at the same time.” Not only will Altima Hybrid owners be helping to save the environment, they’ll also be saving money on gas.

The Altima Hybrid is an excellent environmentally friendly alternative to your typical gas guzzler, but there is an even greener option – zero emission vehicles. Nissan Canada is preparing a lineup of cars that will be totally neutral to the environment, beginning with the electric car. The Nissan Leaf is powered by laminated compact lithium-ion batteries, which generates power output of over 90kW, while its electric motor delivers 80kW/280Nm. This ensures a highly responsive, fun-to-drive experience that is in keeping with what consumers have come to expect from automobiles powered by internal-combustion engines.

“You plug it in at home when you go to sleep at night,” explains Wong, adding that an empty battery will take 16 hours to recharge. “Every recharge is good for approximately 160 km range and is good for about 98km an hour speed.”
