Financing a vehicle can be a scary prospect, but it doesn’t have to be. At Lockwood Chrysler in Oakville, the process is streamlined and user-friendly. After you say yes to a vehicle purchase, you’ll meet with someone from Finance and Insurance (F&I), also known as the Business Office, who will guide you through the steps to get you your chosen vehicle.
“We’re here to complete all of your paperwork,” said Ben Folkes, manager of the dealership’s Financial Services division. “We deal with all the major banks because we prepare the financing and credit application. And we deal with the licensing, so all you have to do is come in, sign, and drive the car away.”
There are some financial benefits of working through the business office. Because the dealership has developed a relationship with a number of banks, interest rates are lower.
“If you go into a bank for a conventional car loan, you will be paying more,” Folkes explained. “Banks have special divisions set up to deal with the volume from dealerships so we get discounts we pass on to the customer.”
Not only will the Business Office assist with your vehicle financing, it can also assist you with deciding on the options you want.
“This can be a bit overwhelming for customers. It’s the second biggest purchase they’re likely to make and now they have to decide on what options they want and how much they want to spend.”
Lockwood Chrysler makes this process easy for customers through the use of menu selling. “Everything is on a computer screen and the customer is in the driver’s seat. By interacting with the menus they can choose their options in a non-confrontational way.”
After the process is complete and the customer has driven away, F&I is still there to offer after-sales service. “We are the hub of the dealership if you want to buy out a lease, change your payment account or pay out a loan.”
