If you’re thinking of washing away your dated bathroom and updating the fixtures, flooring and finishes, get some expert advice.
Dennis Larocque, president of Bathtub King in Hamilton asks the same question of each of his renovation clients.
“First of all, (we ask) what are you trying to achieve out of this renovation? What’s going to satisfy your needs, your husband’s needs and maybe your family’s needs,” he says.
A good place to begin is deciding whether a shower or a tub is preferred. Of course a tub can be equipped with a shower but some clients are opting for a bathtub sized, walk-in shower to replace the tub.
“We’re in a fast-paced world and people don’t have time for baths, so they take a shower,” explains the bathtub “king”.
Bathers often want luxury in their tubs. There are plenty of tub styles to try out at the Hamilton showroom. Larocque encourages customers to climb into the tubs to make sure they feel comfortable. Soaker tubs are extra-deep and feature a sloped back to accommodate relaxation. Whirlpool tubs add bubbles and massaging jets to the experience.
“I want to make sure you are comfortable with the tub and everything else,” says Larocque.
Once the design and all of the elements have been agreed upon, it’s time to get on with the job. Bathtub King employs all of the trades necessary to complete the renovation. This allows for the job to be well coordinated and “move really fast”.
“The average bathroom renovation takes about a week from start to finish. We like to wait until we have all of the product in before we actually come in a take your bathroom apart,” advises Larocque.
