Jake Anand founded Softron in the early 1980’s. Since then, he has built the company into a successful tax preparation business that customers trust. The company has grown from one office in Mississauga to include numerous locations across the GTA and Ottawa.

Anand is an entrepreneur who describes himself as an intellectual who is extremely passionate about his job. He believes that passion, anticipating problems before they arise, and a strong vision are the secrets to his success. “If you do a half-hearted job then you will eventually lose to someone who is willing to put all their energy and passion into it,” Anand admits. He thrives on being busy and is actively involved in the day to day operations of the business. For customers who find tax laws difficult and cumbersome, Anand helps them to understand the tax rules. “I love helping people with their taxes by getting them the biggest refund possible,” he explains.

Not only is Softron 100 per cent owned and operated, Anand is a firm believer that his employees are one of the biggest assets to the company. For that reason, he continuously invests in his staff.

With a background in chemistry and biotechnology, Anand decided to follow a different career path, which led him to McMaster University, where he graduated on the Dean’s Honors List with an MBA in marketing and finance. He continued his education by completing his CA designation with Ernst & Young. Anand also attained a Certified Financial Planner designation.

Over the years, Anand has learnt that problems will inevitably arise, but he continuously looks for alternatives and plans ahead accordingly. Using a quote from Wayne Gretzky – “I don’t chase the puck; I anticipate where it is going to be.” – Anand explains that by anticipating and planning, he’s able to eliminate stress and stay one step ahead of the competition.

Anand believes that a successful tax business is a business based upon trust, honesty, and integrity. Customers want to go to a brand that they recognize and can rely on.
