Are you expecting or know someone who is pregnant? Are you eager to catch a
glimpse of your baby? A 3D non-diagnostic ultrasounds give parents-to-be an opportunity to meet
their unborn child while still in the womb. Unlike diagnostic ultrasounds performed
by doctors, 3D ultrasounds provide a detailed view of the surface areas of the
baby such as the hands, feet, and face. This precious keepsake opportunity that uses high-tech ultrasound equi9pment offer a miraculous sneak peek into your baby’s
world.
So what should you expect at your 3D ultrasound appointment?
“We ask our clients to arrive 15 minutes
before their appointment,” explains Marilyn Smith, office manager of 3D
BabyVision’s location in Oakville. The mom-to-be is given complimentary fruit
juice, which helps wake the baby so imaging movement will be enhanced.
The ultrasound is then done by highly skilled and licensed ultrasonographers
using a state-of-the-art General Electric Voluson 730® system. When the
ultrasound is complete, the client views the images and selects which ones they
want printed. Clients are able to choose
from four ultrasound packages at various prices. Depending on the package
chosen, clients can go home with a recording of the ultrasound session on DVD,
3D images on a CD, three printed 4x6 photos, and optional protected web hosting for two months for family and friends to view the images and optional gender assessment.
“People are in awe when they see their baby for the first time,” says
the registered ultrasound technologist at 3D BabyVision. Often, it’s the first time the husband is
hearing the baby’s heartbeat and it can be a very overwhelming experience. Moms
are amazed as they watch the baby move around. They are often surprised at how
much the baby actually moves around, especially if they haven’t felt a lot of
movement during their pregnancy.
Clients are encouraged to bring family and friends to the appointment to share
their 3D experience. The ultrasound rooms are designed with comfort in mind and
can easily fit up to eight guests, including children. Older siblings are encouraged to
attend the ultrasound and Smith mentions the experience mesmerizes them. A recent client came in with her 2-year old who was very curious about the new
baby growing in mommy’s tummy.
To fathers, especially first-time-dads, they often feel disconnected from the
pregnancy and the growing baby. The 3D ultrasound gives them something tangible
to hold on to. The ultrasound experience helps form the bond between mother,
father, and baby.
“It’s such an opportunity for parents to view and enjoy this exciting
experience. Families bond very quickly once they have the ultrasound,” explains
Smith.
For expectant parents with busy schedules, 3D BabyVision Fetal Imaging offers
flexible appointment hours including evenings and weekends. To ensure a convenient and timely appointment, Smith recommends clients book as early as possible, at around 20 weeks. All clinets must have had their 18 to 20 week fetal assessment ultrasound and follow-up with their medical practitioner before their appointment with 3D BabyVision. 3D BabyVision also offers gift certificates, which
make a great gift for moms-to-be.
