Gone are the frustrating days where you spent
hours filling out income tax forms, armed only with a pencil and calculator.
Today, most Canadian who file their own taxes use e-file. Filing online helps
reduce the number of errors made on the forms, but it also cuts down on the
amount of time you spend filling out your income taxes forms.
Tax professionals at Softron have created a simple method to
use a Canadian developed software program called TaxTron that allows you to
prepare your taxes in the comfort of your own home. According to Jake Anand of
Softron, the program can be downloaded from the Internet to help you file your taxes
with ease. Should you need any help, Softron’s tax professionals are available
to answer all your software and tax questions. Online videos and demonstrations
are also available at www.softron.com to
help you navigate through the income tax process.
There are two
versions of the Taxtron software, one for professionals and another for home
income tax fillers. The difference
between the two is that professionals use the E-file system and can fill an
unlimited number of tax returns; where as the rest of us would use NETFILE,
which is an electronic tax-filing system. NETFILE allows you to file your
income tax and benefit return directly to Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). All you
need is a government provided web access code, similar to your online banking
pin number.
“With the NETFILE product, there are some restrictions. A
maximum number of 20 tax returns that can be filed on one computer,” explains
Anand. To use NETFILE, you need to purchase a license code from Softron, but
otherwise the software is free. “It’s free to download and if you like it, you
can get your calculations done, and then buy the license code from our
website,” Anand says. If you come across any problems during your tax filing,
you can call for support or visit any of Softron’s locations for support.
Once your taxes have been filed online, you’ll receive an
instant confirmation from CRA that your tax return has been received. Within
eight days, you’ll get your income tax return deposited to your bank account or
a cheque will be mailed to you.
