Nissan has seen the future and it’s green, thanks to
the sustainable technologies they’re employing in their lineup of new vehicles.
For drivers looking to drastically reduce their C02
emissions, the Altima Hybrid is the perfect option. Bringing performance, a
sleek exterior and a sustainable 15/-hp 2.5-litre 4-cylinder engine with a
40-hp electric motor together, this car is an environmentally friendly
alterative to the gas guzzlers of yesterday.
The Altima Hybrid is driven by an internal-combustion
engine together with an electric motor and a battery pack. “Any time that you
slow down and/or break, the force is actually recharging the battery at the
same time,” explains Edward Wong, general manager of Alta Nissan Maple.
Soon enough, hybrids won’t be the only green vehicle
options available at Nissan.
A lineup of zero emission vehicles is being designed by
Nissan Canada that will be completely neutral to the environment. The Nissan
Leaf will be the company’s first electric car powered by laminated compact
lithium-ion batteries. In keeping with what consumers love and expect from
vehicles with traditional internal-combustion engines, the battery-powered Leaf
will generate power output of over 90kW, while its electric motor delivers
80kW/280Nm that gives a fun, highly responsive ride.
Wong says that an empty battery will take 16 hours to
fully recharge, but will be easy to keep powered, explaining that it simply needs
to be plugged in each night.
A fully charged battery will last about 160 km and will
enable the vehicle to travel at an average speed of 98 km per hour.
