The Secret Behind Vivian Risi’s Success - more...

It’s not easy to be at the top of your profession, but Vivian Risi, broker of record and owner of Royal Lepage – Your Community Realty makes it look easy. For over thirty years, Vivian Risi has been building a successful career and business in the real estate industry. Receiving her license in 1974, she sold real estate up until 1993, when she decided she wanted to manage instead of sell.

Within six short months of managing the real estate office, Canada Trust decided to sell their real estate division to Coldwell Banker. Risi was faced with a huge decision – stay with the company in hopes that the new owners would keep her employed or buy the business herself. Her bold decision to buy the company paved the way for her future successes. Today, the company has grown into a thriving business employing over 650 representatives in ten offices.

There is much more to Vivian Risi than being the owner of Royal LePage Your Community Realty, Canada’s leading brokerage with ten offices, 650 realtors and dozens of staff. She uses her success and reputation to give back to a plethora of charitable organizations and fundraising events. Contributing to more than thirty charities a year, she has helped break fundraising records for York Central Hospital, Lupus Foundation and the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation. She is also a strong supporter of breast cancer research, Newmarket’s Southlake Hospital, Markham-Stouffville Hospital, Richmond Hill Fire Dept. Toy Drive, Toronto Sick Kids’ Hospital and Amnesty International, as well as several shelters for women and children, including Yellow Brick House.

“Currently I’m dedicating myself to the Yellow Brick House,” Risi says, who accepted the role as Chair for the Yellow Brick House ‘Second Shelter, Second Chance’ Capital Campaign. For over thirty years, Yellow Brick House has offered safe and confidential support to abused women and their children in York Region. In 2008, 4000 women and children received assistance through the shelter and outreach services, but unfortunately over 500 women and children were turned away due to lack of space. “It still has the same number of beds that it had thirty years ago, but our population has quadrupled. It’s in need of a second shelter,” Risi explains. “So the capital campaign is to raise four million dollars in the next two years to open a second shelter.”
