Deep under your skin could be the youthful complexion you are seeking, it just
takes some deep laser beams to find it. Profractional laser resurfacing is a
treatment that Judith Finn recommends for clients who want to have smoother
looking skin but have issues like deep wrinkles, scars, sun Keratosis and
rejuvenation.
The director of E.C.C. Cosmetic and Laser Centre explains
that profractional lasers penetrate deep into the skin to stimulate collagen.
The heat caused by the laser has a “tightening effect” on the collagen. While
other laser treatments will eliminate brown spots, red areas and fine lines,
profractional lasers are used to address “anything with depth”, explains Finn.
She’s referring to scarring like deep marks caused by acne, stubborn brown
spots as well as deep wrinkles or “anything with texture.”
Before any treatment is recommended, clients have a thorough
consultation with a dermal therapist. The session will include a microscopic
skin analysis that is viewed on a television screen. This step will determine
any issues as well as treatment options. It’s also an opportunity to review a
client’s medical history including any medications being taken or pre-existing
medical conditions.
Some clients will be treated with resurfacing technology
along with other laser treatments like broad band lasers (BBL). The results of resurfacing take from three to
six months to appear. Over the course of the treatments, the collagen builds on
a daily basis.
“Six months down the road someone will say that you look
better but they’re not sure why,” Finn explains, adding that the collagen rebuilds
gradually.
