Anyone who has ever put off getting into shape or doing something about a weight problem might appreciate a motivational kick in the butt.
It’s a figurative kick in the butt that John Savidis’ Lean and Fit program delivers. What began as an experiment with a group of 20 participants evolved into a proven program that guarantees weight loss of from 8 to 40 pounds in 10 weeks. That’s what the original 20 experienced, says Savidis.
As a fitness professional for many years, he was constantly being asked for advice on weight loss and conditioning. The one-off program was his way of putting it all together.
“It was so successful that I kept it going and now six years later we offer 30 classes a week,”
When clients sign up at his Hamilton facility, they are given a body composition analysis. That’s the starting point for designing a nutrition plan that tells them “what to eat, when to eat, and how much to eat”. That plan, along with three 30-minute classes a week and homework that includes exercising independently three times a week, make a winning combination.
“You need to do something physical six days a week,” stresses the fitness expert, adding that maintaining fitness has to be a lifestyle.
Of the Lean and Fit program, he says, “It’s not about losing weight. I focus on lifestyle.”
Savidis’s main focus however is motivation. Without it, participants won’t be successful. He admits motivation is something he’s “just good at” and not in an intimidating, drill sergeant way. He motivates in a fun way and he’s laughing when he says he’ll “kick your but six days a week”.
“If you are looking for easy, don’t come here. If you are looking for some real results then come here but be ready to work,” Savidis explains emphatically. “If you really want to get in shape it’s a mind, body connection. It’s not just eating, it’s not just exercise.”
Savidis’s program provides education on nutrition and fitness as well as lifestyle changes that help participants to lose weight and get into shape over a short period of time. The program takes place in an atmosphere that is really not like that of a typical gym. Clients don’t feel intimidated.
“You feel really at home. People are really friendly,” says the owner and founder. “We’ve got real positive energy happening here.”
