Richland Academy is a learning environment where students come first. Located in Richmond Hill, Ontario, the foundation of the school stemmed from a desire for an educational system in which all children have the right and the ability to reach their fullest potential. As the first private prekindergarten to grade six school in York Region to embrace the Reggio Approach to inquiry learning, they engage their students in opportunities to explore, investigate, collaborate and communicate with others, while fostering an experiential and intellectually-stimulating environment.

At Richland, they strive to make every day the best day ever for each child. They recognize that the journey to becoming a passionate and motivated life-long learner begins with the awareness of, and appreciation for, curiosity. Each child is seen as a unique, gifted and capable learner who is filled with much to share and encouraged to reach his or her potential. It is a child’s innate desire to explore and investigate that acts as the very stepping stone for a successful and relevant education – an education rooted in inquiry, motivated by desire and actualized through experience.

Richland Academy cultivates a balanced education where students are encouraged to learn from their surroundings, each other and themselves. They support long-term and open-ended projects as important vehicles for collaborative work, driven by the interests of the students. Classrooms are aesthetically beautiful, promote a sense of well-being and create environments filled with nature that are conducive to providing intentional messages about the vibrant and rich curriculum and how each child’s mind and ideas are valued.
